R-101 Release is a solventless liquid silicone compound for un-molding. For example: polyurethane elastomers used in a flowing capacity for making automobile accessories or components for footwear; and for melamine, phenolic polyester, epoxide resins.

R-101 release is applied to:
*Metallic molds as an un-molding agent
*Molds and membranes in RTV silicone elastomers as a protective agent

Advantages
For these applications, R-101 has the following advantages:

* Easy to use
* Very effective: molded parts have a uniform surface
* Very good adherence on molded surfaces
* Excellent heat stability, which prevents build up in molds--allowing for easier cleaning

Characteristics:
COLOR AND APPEARANCE: Colorless to Pale Yellow, Clear Liquid
PERCENTAGE SOLIDS: 100
VISCOSITY@ 25C, IN CST, Approximately: 150
DENSITY@ 25C, Approximatley:0.99
FLASH POINT: 200C

Method of Use
R-101 release can be applied, as is or, if preferred, diluted in an appropriate solvent at a concentration that is relative to the application. It can be applied with a brush or a spray gun. It is absolutely necessary to use molds that are clean and completely free of grease. The treatment patterns will vary according to the operating conditions, un-molded materials used and the shape of the molds. In general, one application is sufficient for 2 to 10 un-moldings.

R-101 release is very useful in the case of the molding of rigid or semi rigid polyurethane foams, which are particularly aggressive on mold’s surface.

EXAMPLE FORMULATION: PPH

100  ISOPROPANOL ALCOHOL
*****Adjust R-101 level for desired results

This solvent should be totally evaporated before the polyurethane begins to flow; mineral spirits can be used as a diluting agent.

Finishing Touches For Mold Pieces:  If the molded parts are to be glued, painted or printed on, it is necessary to degrease them.
