Silicone Thickening Agent Platinum RTV (THIX #2)
THIX #2 is a thickening agent (Thixotropic) used to create a low sag rubber compound used to build large, or small, thin bladder silicone molds using Platinum RTV R-2234 and R-2230 systems.
Color: Clear liquid
Specific Gravity: .99
Mix Ratio: 2 to 3% added to Part A
Viscosity: 2500 cps
Mix and Use Instructions:
Add Thix #2 to Part A of R-2234 or R-2230 compounds before properly catalyzing. Thickening will become present within seconds of the addition of agent. Thix # 2 will create different flow control viscosities for each type of silicone system. Add PE Mini Fibers for a peanut butter like consistency. Care must be taken to avoid air entrapment, which affects mold durability. An air gun or hair dryer can be used to work out bubbles from surface. Cloth material can be added to strengthen rubber mold, but it will limit any elongation in the mold. It is recommended that the first few coats should be applied with un-thickened RTV to assure highest detail.
MIXING:
Mix 2% to 3% of THIX #2. This will cause base to thicken. Then mix in Catalyst.
